Dear Colleagues,
South Africa’s premier multi-stakeholder pharmacy conference, the National Pharmacy Conference, is scheduled for its fourth instalment in 2026. The 4th National Pharmacy Conference will take place at the majestic Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre Complex (commonly known as “Durban ICC”) in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, from 09 to 14 October 2026.
It is my sheer pleasure to, on behalf of the South African Pharmacy Council, invite all members of the Pharmacy profession in all sectors of our beautiful profession and all stakeholders across Pharmacy and the entire healthcare value chain to the 4th National Pharmacy Conference.
The last three conferences saw the profession, stakeholders and Council come together to deliberate on solutions for challenges facing Pharmacy and the broader healthcare system. Furthermore, policy positions guided by conference resolutions have helped reshape education and training, the practice environment, research, and Council’s own regulatory frameworks. Chiefly, the work of the previous years readied Pharmacy for the health system envisaged in the National Development Plan and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. To this effect, Pharmacy has become a responsive collaborator in the South African health care system and a catalyst for meaningful impact in the advancement of public health.
The 4th National Pharmacy Conference will be held under the theme: “A Glimpse into the Future: Advancing Pharmacy Towards 2050”. The theme acknowledges the ample progress that Pharmacy has made towards its continued contribution to the health system envisioned in South Africa’s Vision 2030, having built on existing capacities to ensure that the profession continues to effectively contribute to therapeutic patient outcomes and disease prevention at all levels of health care delivery. The theme for the 2026 conference is a clarion call for all in Pharmacy, especially those who will be descending upon the Durban ICC, to engage in deliberations that prepare our profession for the post-2030 era – a period that presents itself to be characterised by the proliferation of technology, artificial intelligence and rapid change.
We look forward to a conference that is bigger and more impactful than we have seen in the last three conferences – hence, Council has sought out a large capacity venue to ensure that we can host stakeholders and pharmacy professionals from across all sectors of pharmacy and the entire health care value chain.
Registration is now open, and we invite all pharmacy professionals and stakeholders to be part of this momentous occasion.
