Strategic Lead for Workforce Capability Building
Beth Ward is the Strategic Lead for Workforce Capability Building at the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association (CPA), where she leads the organisation's global education and workforce development strategy to strengthen pharmacy practice and health systems across the Commonwealth. She established and now leads the CPA Academy, a workforce development ecosystem that combines digital learning, workshops, leadership fellowships, mentoring and communities of practice to build the capability and confidence of pharmacists, particularly across low- and middle-income countries.
A practising pharmacist with a Global MBA (Health) with Distinction, Beth is passionate about unlocking the full potential of pharmacists to strengthen primary healthcare and improve health outcomes. She works with national pharmacy associations, governments and international partners to design and deliver innovative workforce development programmes that translate policy into practice. Her work spans clinical consultation skills, responsible self-care, non-communicable diseases, antimicrobial stewardship and healthcare leadership, with a strong focus on sustainable health systems strengthening.
Beth is a regular international speaker and facilitator, delivering workshops and educational programmes that equip pharmacists with the knowledge, skills and confidence to expand their role in delivering safe, effective and person-centred care.
